Smart Shoes from Apple To Be Out On Paper

Are you Apple-ed yet? Although there are a number of smart technologies floating all around us, there are still some which simply rule the market or at least have build their reputation over time. Making quite a reputation, Apple has yet again tried to do something completely out-of-the box. It has filed an application for something called the ‘smart shoes’.

Now what great will these shoes deliver? For one thing, these will not be attached with external trackers but wear-out sensors. These sensors will simply alert the shoe-wearer when it’s the right time to buy a new pair and shun the ones that are being used. All this will be moderated via Wi-Fi. The patent goes by saying, “As a shoe wears, physical support provided by the shoe decreases, thereby reducing associated protection from injury. When a critical wear level is reached, even if the shoe looks like it is not particularly worn, the shoe may not provide adequate support and may, in fact, cause damage to feet.”

The sensors on the shoes will automatically connect with the iOS device and simply exist as a thin layer which is built into the sole of the shoe, placed near the heel of the same. The patent also says, “In one embodiment, a shoe wear out sensor includes at least one detector for sensing a physical metric that changes as a shoe wears out, a processor configured to process the physical metric, over time, to determine if the shoe is worn out, and an alarm for informing a user of the shoe when the sole is worn out.

It’s a known fact that Apple has a way around with design and styling and thus the designing standard of the shoe is one interesting aspect that waits to be looked at. In the photo, what you can see is a pair of white vintage sneakers that were a part of Apple’s line of employee-exclusive clothing.
