Haven’t we all heard of a number of heroic incidents and stories? But don’t we get motivated each time we hear of bravery? This is yet another one in the league. A man named Sun Jifa, a Chinese farmer put up a brave act when he lost both his arms due to a tragic accident. In a normal condition, we can’t even think of something of this nature but this man showed courage and literally built a new pair of unnatural arms.
After a homemade bomb exploded prematurely, this man builds functional prosthetic limbs for himself. Though a hospital offered him the same but as he couldn’t afford an expensive surgery of that kind, he took to design one for himself. This accident had taken place a few years back when at the age of 51 he lost both his arms. Hailing from Guanmashan, Jilin province of northern China this poor farmer got himself together and not once lost faith in him.
Being a farmer he knew that to work on his farm he needed both hands and thus this task took shape. He decided to build himself two artificial arms entirely out of scrap metal. It took him eight years to plan and develop several prototypes of the same. Today he has two arms like any other normal human being. The only thing is that these arms are of metal!
I have put up a few pictures for you to see how he works with his two arms just like a normal human being. He can move his bionic limbs with the help of his elbows. It allows him to work just the way he did when he had natural arms. However Sun says that during extreme summers and winters, his metal hands become extremely hot or cold respectively. Having saved a lot of money from his home-operation, he is today very happy with his arms. He plans to develop the design for other disabled people.
