Tidal energy in Australia is the next big thing for generating pollution-free electricity

Australia has been known as the capital for coal, of the world since past many years and now Australia has given a fresh start to another technology, the Tidal Ocean Energy, which is energy efficient and is green and clean.
Tidal energy is a source of energy that provides sufficient energy from a single power plant and is also pollution free. This type of energy uses the energy of the tide to rotate the turbine and generate the electricity in turn. The CSIRO has given the reports regarding this subject.

According to the report submitted by the association, the tidal energy in Australia is more than enough and it may provide as much as 11 percent of the total energy that is consumed by Australia, by 2050. This is a great resource as it is free of cost. The investment that is to be made is just one time. Once the investment is made, further production is free of cost since the tides come automatically and do not involve any source.

Further, the source also is a pollution free source of energy and thus is far better than thermal power. The potential of this source has been proved to be very high. The coast in the southern part of the country is the best for producing this form of energy. And this needs to be explored more for the most suitable site.

The major hurdle will be the high salt content of sea water that can cause degradation of the quality of blade due to saline water. Further, talking specifically about Australia, the biggest problem is that the ocean currents are supposed to shift from time to time and thus the plant cannot be kept fixed at a particular place for the generation of energy. By overcoming these, the energy can be produced to suffice the country’s consumption of energy.
