Global warming is already showing its repercussion with the increase in temperature worldwide. It has been stated that 2012 is becoming the hottest year for America and according to Weather Channel over 15,000 record temperatures have already been recorded. These temperature stats are topping more than triple digits. With just early July setting in, America has not yet seen it’s normally ‘warm months’. All weather predictions state that it’s going to get hotter with the following months.
In such a scenario what is to happen to those men who are formally supposed to wear dress shirts to their office every day? Although all offices are conditioned to suit a comfortable temperature, there is no respite for such office-goers when they get out. Many sporting brands have come out with clothes that are moisture-wicking in nature and have cooling technology in place but nothing has been done so far for dress shirts. There are dress shirts which are wrinkle-free but they have nothing in them to keep a check on the heat. Now, of course you can’t be looking all sweaty while going for a meeting and thus Apollo shirts have been designed.
These Apollo shirts are dress shirts which have been designed by four former athletes from MIT. They adapt to the wearer’s body temperature keeping them cool and comfortable. It uses the same technology that NASA uses to design their space suits, these phase-change materials help to pull away the moisture and heat from the wearer’s body and to get them rid of any embarrassing sweat stains. The dress shirt then uses this stored heat for a time when the wearer needs it, that is when the temperature is cooler than before. So it’s useful for a person who keeps moving from two places- outside to inside.
These dress shirts are also free of any odour formation and are wrinkle-free. They have an anti-microbial coating which keeps the odour-causing bacteria to keep away. As MIT grads work under the Ministry of Supply, the ministry has mapped how the skin moves which has helped them in making these shirts from wrinkling away. This means that these shirts will always stay tucked in if that’s what you want. Currently priced at $95, these shirts are not expensive too as you can simply machine-wash them.
