What signifies a great Milan Design Week? Well, it’s got to be awesome designs pools, amazing designs to awe the public with and much more, isn’t it? That’s exactly what has happened at this Design Week too. We have to tell you the news about these amazingly designed Photovoltaic solar parasols that have been designed and have been placed all across the city for people to rest under its shade and charge their devices the green-way.
These photovoltaic solar parasols are shaped like an umbrella. Called by two names owing to their design and structure- Eclipse and Kosmos, they have been designed by Ombrellone Solare. Developed with the help of some re-collected recycled materials it uses power directly from the sun to charge your gadgets. It does so with the help of a thin, lightweight film which is made of Organic Photovoltaic. Furthermore, the energy is stored in a conventional way- the adaptable charger which can be used for various purposes such as charging your phones and laptops anywhere on the street.
From the designer himself, “Eclipse, created in collaboration with Umbrosa, is a simple yet beautiful design for a parasol, doing away with the classic huge umbrellas. It consists of a big, sophisticated ring, which holds a shade sail that is tightened inside and is majestically silhouetted against the sky. Kosmos, equally beautiful, was developed with Extremis, and focuses more functionality and careful consideration for each and every aspect of the product. It also integrates an LED light which is powered by the solar panels, thus can be converted into a lighting fixture at night.”
It would be great if we could have something like more in a permanent format rather than being just a temporary make-shift thing.
