Not tonight dear, ok then hand me a beer – Male flies too, go for alcohol when denied sex

So what do you do when you wanted to have a good time with your partner making the night go crazy but the female partner denies the opportunity simply because she is not in the mood? Well, most certainly you’ll have a drink or two to have at least something rewarding that tingles your brain buds and puts you to sound sleep. The moral of the story is plain simple for us humans when the opportunity for sex doesn’t occur to a male or is simply denied by the female then the only option left is to self-fantasize with the bitter juices of alcohol. But hang on a second does it only happen to the human species or is it a phenomenon that happens to other living creatures too? You would play a safe bet and say that there isn’t a chance other species are lured into the same situation and go for the exact same remedy.

But surprisingly a study conducted by researchers, that was published in the journal Science, male flies who have been deprived of sex for long time go for alcohol laced food from a tube. But the study was conducted so that researchers could come up with a way to develop new medications for fighting alcoholism. The study showed how flies who were discouraged by the females for mating for a session of four hours in a day went for the choice of alcohol laden food as opposed to the normal food choice. However the flies that just had a good mating spree with females went for the normal food each time the experiment was performed. To add legitimacy to the experiment extra tests were conducted with the male flies put in containers having dead females so that even if they were not rejected, they did not have sex either which proved that it was the lack of opportunity for pleasurable experience that made them go for the choice of food.
