For avid Apple product collector this might be the crown in the jewel which takes center stage on the elite apple collection desk. A very rare masterpiece product back from the 1993’s has unearthed and boy is it some find! Called as the W.A.L.T (Wizzy Active Lifestyle Telephone) this device was never released to the public, so most of you might not even have heard about any such thing as W.A.L.T, not even if you are a die-hard Apple fan of the next gen. the device is up for grabs on e-Bay for a whopping $8000 which by the way is equals the money worth for purchasing 16 third generation iPad’s.
W.A.L.T was introduced by Apple (co-developed by Bell South) at Macworld Boston in 1993 and also featured on the first place for PC World’s “Top 15 Vaporware Products of All Time”. Probably this is the reason why technological community was shocked at the non-release of this amazing product for that era. As far as the general specs of this device go it features a high-resolution touch screen LCD w/stylus, hand-writing recognition, fax, address book, caller ID, online banking, speakerphone, message pad and personalized ringtones too. It runs on Mac OS 6.0.8 and has a HyperCard in place of the customary Finder.
W.A.L.T has support for external SCSI and VGA outputs and this prototype is one of the handful prototypes of this device in existence. Since the guy selling it on e-Bay is himself a technology buff therefore the device is in top running condition, apart from a few loose connections which can be easily soldered. So if you are Apple lover and also do manage to have loads of money at your disposal then this is a collector’s edition must have device.
