Contracting spaces and eco-friendly sustainable living takes us back to roots away from the ultra-modern tech savvy homes. But in the recent past we have seen really good concept projects that vouch for sustainable eco-friendly living in conjunction with latest developments in urban technology and living space. Here we present to you Bosco Verticale that is an extensive project of green vertical towers designed by Stefano Boeri (Architect, academic and former editor of design and architecture magazine). The construction for this project has commenced in Milan, Italy and it will span a 27-story structure that will look more or less like a vertical jungle but with professional occupants inside.
Being a self-sustainable building Bosco Verticale will have fully optimized system that recuperates and produces energy in conjunction with nature. Being one of the most polluted cities in the world when it comes to CO2 emissions, Milan could only have dreamed of such a structure that balances the microclimate by filtering the dust particles, absorbing CO2 particles and producing oxygen. To top it off the building is protected from ultra-violet radiation and acoustic pollution as most of it will be covered in trees and other form of flora and fauna. On energy saving criterion too the building is going to be perfectly compatible as it will save energy all year round for its occupants.
Initially Bosco Verticale will have two towering buildings standing at 110 and 76 meters high and is going under construction bang in the middle of the beautiful city of Milan. The building will be draped in 900 chosen trees that will measure anything from 3-9 meters each and that is not all. The uber cool vertical structure will house an even larger number of shrubs and floral plants specially chosen for the building. If we take the amount of trees and floral plants proposed to be planted on Bosco Verticale then it would amount to around 10,000 sqm of forest on flat land. The project is set to be completed in the year 2012 and surely it will put forth a grand spectacle for on-lookers. For the residents of Bosco Verticale it going to be a win win situation when it comes to ultra-modern eco-friendly sustainable living of the highest order.
