I still remember the movie Back to the Future II in which the character Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) while time travelling into the year 2015 worn those uber cool looking Nike MAG shoes. Well at that time I so desperately wanted to get my hands on a pair but the long was well worth as Nike have started the auction for a select limited edition of 1500 pairs of the Nike MAG shoes emulated on the ones featured in the movie. Per day only 150 pair of shoes will be sold over a period of 10 days on e-Bay so here is your chance to get hold of one of the coolest Nike shoes that you will ever own in your lifetime. The auction has already begun on September 8th from 8:30 PM PST and it will go on till September 18th.
The Nike MAG has been carved in to viable design by Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield who apparently helped design the original shoe featured in the movie. The shoe has been designed exactly to the last precise detail with the exact same contours of the upper region, glowing LED panels and the super cool electroluminescent NIKE engraved on to the strap. According to Nike the 2011 Nike MAG illuminates by pinching the ear on the high top section of the shoe and it glows for a maximum of five hours in one charge.
The proceeds of the collected money from the auction will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation which is dedicated to finding the cure for Parkinson’s disease that affects many people in US. The auction is only valid for people residing in United States of America so people outside U.S will have to hold their horses for now, but we expect the retail version of the shoe to be out in the coming months, only if Nike finds it apt to release the shoe.
Apparently if you are wondering what’s the big deal about these McFly-inspired Air Mag sneakers, then let me tell you that British rap artist Tinie Tempah bought them off e-Bay for a whopping $37,500! Since he bought them at such an unbelievable price, he got a nice little plutonium carrying case for the buy too. Anyways that is a hefty price to pay for a pair of sneakers but the lowest price so far for the pair is no cheap either at $4000.
